Energy Department Increase to 13 SEER

Beginning in January 2006, the Department of Energy (DOE) will enforce a 13 seasonal energy efficiency rating (SEER) standard for residential central air conditioners. This standard will increase the SEER by 30 percent compared to models sold today.
